are VGA's that come on the mobo better then one you buy and attach to the pci-e slot? i am looking to run games that are graphic heavy I am comtaplting making a new computer and want to know if i should buy a new graphics card or go with a mobo designed for gaming with its on board vga

what games are you looking to play and what is your budget for the card? cards are almost always better than onboard graphics.

Depending on what card you are looking at, and what mobo, typically the graphics cards are better. Some of the weaker cards are weaker than some strong mobos, but, you can get a graphics card that can waaaay outperform the mobo.

I am a fan of the total war type games and I wanna be able to play anything that sparks my interest with good graphics, so any card that can do that for me and would last some time would be great and also cost is not much of an issue but resonably priced

$240

Outperforms ATi 5830, nearly equal to 5850, can play any game curerntly out at highest settings at near any resolution, lifetime warranty, arguably the best bang for buck card out now.

However, what power supply will you be buying?

You don't need a massive PSU to power it and the rest of your system, but you will need to go with a quality unit.

Assuming your budget for the card and the power supply together is $300 (the top that you said), any of the following would be good choices:

All are ~$60
