Onboard Firewire Stopped Working

My Onboard firewire has worked perfectly for the past 6 months or so
until a few days ago when I tried to capture something and it didn't connect
the device.

Through process of elimination I know for certain it is not:

1. The Camera
2. The Dock which the camera connects to
3. The Firewire cable.

Which leaves me with the assumption that it is one of the following:

- The Actual Physical Firewire port
or
- The Drivers for the firewire port have been corrupt.

try reinstalling the drivers.... pretty standard procedure if you think they're corrupt.
if that isn't the problem and you say all the others aren't the problem, it's the hardware.
