onboard graphics

so i was thinking why they didnt make more powerful onboard graphics, they can simply add a cooling fan to cool it :D they didnt have to put a 8800gtx onboard but maybe something like a 7600gt or something : D something where you can actually game :D we know that onboard is for basic use and to cut cost but it'll be cool to have more open space in there :D

Well im sure you know if they did that, first the price of motherboards would go up quite a bit. Second, that would require alot more space on a motherboard (think x300 vs 8800GTX, lol), thirdly it would probably require more power then the motherboard alone could handle, and lastly, people who want power video cards buy them seperatly :)

But the G33 chipsets (based off the P35), sports a DX10 integrated video chipset.

As Omega said, there's probably a space issues... Besides just the components of the card, how about that heatsink :P

I know older motherboards sometimes offered pretty fair onboard video. I seem to recall one motherboard that had a dedicated TNT2 onboard with dedicated RAM. And I know my original emachines had a built in ATI Rage IIc with 4MB onboard.

You'd think they might try something like laptop GPUs or something, but I guess they still require pretty fair cooling.

In the latest issue of maximum Pc they actually have have some news from an Intel Job posting searching for engineers to work on a new "discrete" onboard video Plan.. When asked about this they said they could neither confirm nor deny.

Sounds interesting..
