I've read the sticky and still don't understand, I new to computers so i dont know all the terms,

What is the difference, IDE, SATA, ATA, are all 3 different types of cables or something?

ide and ata are the same thing. sata is a different kind of cable and faster than ide/ata

sataII is faster than all of these.

thats not the only difference, with SATA you dont need to set jumpers and SATA drives are hot swappable (you can change them with the PC running) instead of shutting down and making changes, plus you can only set up RAID if you have SATA drives. And the wire is smaller so you dont have a nasty ribbon cable
