Ongoing Internet problems

Hi,

A friend has had his Internet back since I posted on here a few weeks ago, BUT there still seems to be a problem with the connection i.e. when his internet has come back on it has been fine for 2 days or so, before it becomes disconnected again for 2 days or so. His Internet, for example, was fine from about Monday till about Wednesday night last week, but he was disconnected again from Wednesday night (roughly) till Friday night. It came back on again On Friday night, only to disconnect again on Sunday night (it's still disconnected).

I think it most likely (though I haven't a clue really) that it might be a local area problem, so I checked his phone line status for his area (not sure this helps) on the BT website, which said:-

Status Date reported Date completed

Closed 10 Sept 2009 13 Sept 2009

Open 06 Feb 2010 Not completed yet

The problem is that I'm not sure what this indicates. Any help would be appreciated, as to the probably cause of the problem.

It's either his internet provider dropping the connection or the modem/router dropping the connection. He probably needs to call this internet provider to have them check his line and run tests on it.
