Either China really doesn't care about Vista, or they just don't want to pay for it ;)
 
i hope ms hires people to personally go over there and kick everyone of those people in the nuts. If its a women that bought it, then they'll surgically put nuts on her, and kick them.

Same thing goes for the people that make the copies.

yes, that would be an interesting number to know

also, no i dont think that is a bit much, if anything, its not enough.(if they did that, you would see the amount of pirated stuff go WAY down)
 
It's so easy for them to pirate XP and earlier OS's, and much harder for Vista. Also, China is cheap :)

And that link you gave is to a pirated version of Vista. Note how "Ultimate" is mispelled on the side.
 
But consider the facts, would you pay a months salary to get vista?

It's not even that great an operating system anyway.
 
It's not just that, they do the same thing with movies. There are stores in chinatown here where you can get hundreds of movies for a few dollars each. You should see the shops where they make them, it's literally a wall of burners. I understand vista isn't cheap but shouldn't you be worried about other things if money is tight instead of buying a new OS for your computer?

Don't you get it? People in China can't afford to buy Vista. If you can buy a lunch for less than 3 yuan in a city, which is less than 40 cents in USD, why would anyone spend 359 USD, or 2,744 yuan for Vista Ultimate...I wouldn't, especially if your salary is less than 3000 USD if you're a worker.

I do get it, but I still think that if you cannot afford it you shouldn't try and buy it. And you certainly shouldn't buy illegal copies.

If you can't afford the basic things that everyone needs (food, water, etc) then I can understand having to steal. But for a luxury, if you can't afford it you shouldn't have it.

Yes, I do agree with you, but people in China have a different state of mind. They don't really care about microsoft, and they don't really understand that what they're doing is stealing. The thing is, the average person doesn't even know they're buying a pirated version. Many people buy computers from 3rd party builders. However the usual customer doesn't know that the builders are using illegal copies.

I'm not saying that pirating software is right, I'm just saying that sometimes it isn't their fault.

yeah i agree....MS are just too greedy.

If they reduced the price of Vista then more people would buy it.

Think about what your saying first, I have heard of many times in whiche MS have put large sums of money into different countrys, make several thousand jobs, but MS in that situaition could have used a much cheaper region to do it, but that area needed the jobs mores, everyone sees MS as a rich money grabbing fat company, because Bill gates is the richest man in the world.
But really the reason why he is the richest is because he is an all round good entrepreneur he marketed the home computer better then IBM, and Apple.

Back to the problem of vista being pirated, I think the whole priracy thing is a totaly different state of mind there, although it think it is wrong..

What i am saying is we shouldnt get to worked up about something we don't know a whole lot about.
