Only Windows not secure?

Yeah. Although almost everyone blames Microsoft Windows but it makes perfect sense. Why blame something that a small minority uses? It is clear that people are going to try and exploit a system which almost everyone uses. That's why there are so many REPORTED bugs in Windows. However, I believe that if other OSs went under such heavy scrutiny, the results would be simmilar. No matter what people say, Microsoft has some skilled people making a great OS (referring to XP ;)).

I absolutely agree with what Janc said
People with evil intentions only target the most significant OS, which in this case is Windows
That is why flaws are so public, flaws which could give hackers access to over 90% of computers seeing as though that is how widespread windows is
I personally have Linux on another partition just in case, Knoppix LiveCD is also extremely handy if something goes wrong, why? Because Linux is hardly targeted (although there is the rootkit which is just about the worst thann all viruses, etc) and is one of the msot stable OS
This is because Linux is made by the people, for the people
 
So this could be a way to have a secure computer: choose an OS that only a few suckers use and you're secure because nobody wants to hack it... :P

The other issue with Windows is that Microsoft takes a long time for security updates, whereas other OS's distribute a patch as soon as possible. Sure, Microsoft has more stuff to deal with than other developers, so it would only seem natural to have more delays, but that's what comes with a large company like Microsoft. If you want to have such a successful OS, you need to have the staff and support to ensure that patches and fixes are current and supplied ASAP. That's 1 reason I don't like Microsoft. Microsoft also steals from others. MS stole the "Windows" concept from IBM - IBM sued them and won, but that's not the point. What's a couple million dollars to Microsoft, that's pocket change to Bill Gates. I'm not a huge MS fan, only use it for what I need, Windows.

That's not a contradiction. I must work from time to time on Macs, so I need Macs but I absolutely hate them.
 
Well, I must be the odd-man out...I have a powerbook G4 that I use daily, I love it...I also have a Dell, which I game on...I have had viruses on neither, and don't use any 3rd party antivirus or firewall(meaning the only firewall I use is the built in Window's one)...aslong as you know where threats of virus'/spyware/trojans/etc. are you should be fine...and perhaps the reason the Mac OS X is yet to be a major home for virus' and shit, IS because a security update is released every week or so...so wouldn't you rather a computer that has an OS on it that is continually updated to ensure your safety?

Microsoft releases security patches fairly fast. Say what you want about them but you have to admit they are one of the best publishers out there. They may release buggy software but that's because people go looking for them the day of release. Have a look at other companies, EA for example, they rush their devlopers and release software that is insanely buggy (BF2 initial release is insanely buggy).

Oh...of course...by no means am I bad mouthing Microsoft, I just think that people need to be a little more open minded when it comes to Mac OS X...

I love both OS', OS X is more "friendly" for my email/chatting/general computer use....and Windows is more of my "tool" I use it for gaming, 3D stuff, and just general exploration of computers and how they work :P

I wouldn't be able to live without both OS', (maybe that is a tad drastic, but yall know what I mean) Both have their pros and cons, but in both the pros out way the cons which make them both exceptional operating systems
