OpenHCD USB Controller Driver

I just got done partitioning and re-installing Vista Ultimate on my newly refined rig, and in the device manager I found this;

In short, what is it? The info I found says to download the driver for it, but all drivers found are for XP and older.. plus, this says it has a driver currently installed.

I believe this might have something to do with why my printer and external DVD burner aren't recognized, correct me if I'm wrong.. my PSP is recognized, though.

Another issue I'm having is the Vista/Windows Experience Index says I need to refresh the values since I added new hardware (my video card), but when I refresh it stays the same, and says I need to refresh the values..

I've re-installed Vista 3 times now for various reasons, so options short of re-installing would be exceptional :D

Help is greatly appreciated.

you running the 64bit version? My guess would be a not so well written driver that needs to be updated to work with Vista64.

the USB controller on your PC. Perhaps could be a built in card reader or just plain old USB ports. One of the controllers is not fully installed which could cause issues.

Thanks for the info.

I went ahead and unplugged all of my USB devices (wireless keyboard and mouse, card reader, front panel USB plugs, external USB port, common controller wireless adapter, etc) after uninstalling that device, and when I rebooted my PC (with none of the above mentioned USB devices plugged in) Windows automatically re-installed that driver again.. so I have to assume the driver is for my mobo.

I used the disc that came with my mobo and installed all drivers on it, but there was no mention of USB drivers in there, and Windows automatically installed that driver, so I guess there wasn't a USB driver on the disc?

All USB ports appear to work.. I ran through each of them with my PSP and each time Vista installed PSP Type-A and Mass Storage drivers and the autoplay box popped up afterwards..

If all USB ports are working, I wonder why there's the yellow exclaimation mark next to that driver? ...Anyone know why it might be saying it doesn't have enough free resources to work, but then works?

My system specs are in my sig if that helps.. I'd really like to resolve this, it's bugging me :D

It is probably a glitch with the driver and Vista and if your USB ports are working then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Check for driver updates from your motherboard company or perhaps email their support and ask them. Most likely this will be resolved with either an OS update or a driver update.

I saw legacy support in the BIOS yesterday and was half tempted to disable it, but I use a wireless keyboard/mouse set, so I didn't.

However, I just disabled it and my keyboard and mouse still work, and the problem went away! No more exclamation mark next to the OpenHCD driver! :D

Thanks all,

-mak
