Ok, here's the situation. I'm planning on opening a cafe with 5 computers setup and free wi-fi. I have a little bit of knowledge about networking but would like some more help. Well, for this cafe I would want a TIME LOGGER of somesort, similar to Kinko's expresspay where you insert a credit card or a kinko's credit card and you would be able to use the computer via PAY BY MINUTES or PAY BY HOUR. If the hardware for the time logger is out of the question, would anyone here know any software that can record the time signing on and time signing off. Next would be the Operating System itself. I'm going to run Windows XP Professional and want to set it up where each time the computer is rebooted all the installed program will be delete and Windows will act as if it was at the previous state. What kind of software will I be needing to do this sort of things. I noticed that my school is using Novell to set this up with username and password. Each time the computer is reboot, all the software or any information that was obtained is deleted. Please help me! I appreciate it a lot. Any links to any tutorials would help.

Thanks

Seems easier to just write a quick program to act as a gateway and have that program deal with the time (you can of course use USB keys as a hardware solution .... or even use another computer as a server to be a solution)

Short of scripting a Ghost operation each time i dunno

That is a very good idea. I wonder how much money you can realistically make??..

I looked at the first few links from what Ian posted... and while they are expensive, they look pretty cool!

I remember a similar application on laptops at my middle school. I think it was from Gateway where one computer was able to monitor and/or control the rest of the computers.... For science class or something... Anyway, all of programs seem to have a ton of features, so do some research, check for compatibility, and customer feedback are all very important steps in getting the right software to fit your needs.

computer cafe

I looked into starting a cyber cafe as they call it, but it would be to costly and time consuming for me (disabled), but programing for this venture is out there and to help just type in your browser (cyber cafe or simular to that and you will be suprised what comes up.

Hope this helps

what you are talking about to have all programs deleted etc.. thats called having your computers in deep freeze, look up deep freeze for more info

You can get ClubControl for free only in august. It has all features, you need to manage your cyber cafe. Their site - www.vaosoft.com
Just founded this old topic about cyber cafes. I am planning to open new cyber cafe. I am testing Antamedia Internet Cafe software http://www.antamedia.com/caffe/ to control the clients it seems that is really good and not so expensive. Anyone use it ?

Reported both as Spam, just to play it safe. The second could go either way, but the ClubControl one is fairly blatant.
