Opening A Hard Drive (Dust?) Cause Damage?

I recently (for a reason I dont want to explain..lol) opened one of my hard drives and put a new cover on it. it was only open for about 3 seconds then I put the new cover on (wich came directly off a diffrent hard drive that was never opened) . I then screwed it down. I never touched anything in the hard drive.

I know that hard drives are very sensative to dust but do you think that those few seconds of being open will do anything? I also know that hard drives have dust filters in it. That give me hope.

I am 90% sure it will work when I plug it in, but do you think it will last?.. If so how long would you say I have?..

Thanks

So long as you weren't removing the cover in a sandstorm and you didn't touch/bump any of the internals, you should be fine.

you came brought the thread back to life? most people would just let sleeping dogs lie, but hey now i know it works so i might as well make one from acrylic that is reactive to UV!

Well, if someone else has the same question, when they search for it it will come up and they will know the results.
