I recently wiped clean and reloaded windows xp pro on my computer and realized I no longer had my copy of Microsoft office 2007 and was unable to reinstall it. Unfortunately I had quite a few documents created using it and now that I transferred them from the zip drive I can't open them. Short of buying a new version of Office, does anyone have a good suggestion? Thanks!

Try OpenOffice or LibreOffice. Both are free, open-source office suites and can read/write MS Office files.

I am not sure on 2007, but you should be able to get it to open under openoffice. If not, then there are sites out there that will convert them, and to get them open in openoffice using the convert sites you will need to set it to .doc or any of the formats shown here http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOo3_User_Guides/Getting_Started/File_formats.
