Opening files remotely

Hi,

I own a business that I currently am looking to find a way to access my company files at home, and modify them. I'm mostly looking to open my Quickbooks file from my server (SBS2003) on my home PC. I know some people have told me to use teamviewer, but I don't like doing it that way. I'd rather be able to open my whole server and work from home.

Can someone tell me how I can do this? I'm not a networking guy, but I can find my way around a computer, so hopefully someone can walk me through this.

Any site to site VPN implementation would facilitate that. OpenVPN is free and works well.

You'd also want to do other things like put the VPN server in a dmz
