Opening photos on my computer

I have a new computer and transferred my photos using a USB stick from my old computer, but cant open them. Do I need some software to open and look at the photos?

You're gonna have to give us more information than that.

Does Device Manager report the USB stick once its inserted into the compter?

If so...

Does it appear in Computer as a removable storage device?

More information the better.
 
Additional to "ghosts" post, what format are they in? Are they "JPEG/JPG" or have they been saved in a format particular to a program like Photoshop with a PSD extension?
 
If you don't have a certain software for that matter, you will have to download a new one yes
