Opening up the Laptop

Is there a key to opening Laptops?

I found the way to open the part under the LCD screen on the laptop base to expose the connections going to the LCD screen.

I may have a bad Inverter Board, but i've never opened up a Laptop.

I've also read about pci slots on laptop. How do you open the area where the pci cards are located.

It's a HP ZT1195.

I don't want to break anything, but I can't afford to pay to see what's wrong. I've read here that the Inverter board might be bad or disconnected.

Any help would be great, because I don't know where to start. I keep prying on parts to see if I can figure out how to open it up to check if somethings loose.

All I can suggest is look around for someone else who has opened the same or similar laptop to what you have. They are all different.

Laptops have no PCI slots. They have PCMCIA(PC-Card, older) or express-card slots(newer). There may be mini-PCI inside the computer somewhere, but again, every laptop's different.
 
Some laptops have a mini-PCI slot, which is most often used for the wireless card. As for opening it, look on the bottom and make sure all of the screws are out. It's usually secured in on the top by some clips and such, but it really depends on the laptop.
 
Yes, the laptops usually have a lot of screws securing the casings together, ,make sure you got all of them, also u might need to bend a side to get it to open due to snap-on designs built to hold the pieces firmly together.
