Operating systems on a pc

As many partitions as your system can support. I think some kid once had 35 different OSes on one system. Like every version of DOS, Windows, Linux, Unix and so forth just as a proof of concept.

In some cases, like Windows 2000, you can actually share the same file system with another OS. That is rare though.

Of course we aren't counting virtual machines here are we? If we are, man, if you got the hardware to run 100 instances of different OSes you can do so.

It's also possible to install an operating system inside a file instead of a partition. Wubi is an example of that (though wubi only installs ubuntu Linux and only inside Windows).

I was wondering if there is any way i can get windows , osx and ubuntu on the same machine...the first and the third are easy....but as for the second one, it seems to be a pain...i even tried using the easybcd to add the extension onto the bootmenu but i dont see a way through. Lol...linux and windows are easy to install . But tri booting it with mac....ugh.....

You legally, technically cannot install OS X on a non Apple Computer. You can install all three OSes on a Mac very easily.

30 different operating systems on a single PC?!?!!?!??!! HOLY SHIT MAN ROFL!!!

Yeah this would have been probably about 10 years ago when I read about this, but it was just proof of concept. Some college kid stuffed as many HDs as he could in his computer and made as many partitions as he could and set his boot loader to load each one.

I doubt that web page even still exists, as this was old school. I do remember reading it and I do recall it being at least 30 if not mid 30s.

My co-workers and I at the time were joking about it for a few days because we had a client that had tried to install like 4 OSes and we kept joking how we were just going to send him that college kid's link as the answer to his multiple OS issues.

While not legal, it is definitely possible.

Hell, I heard someone doing that on an netbook

Yea i read about that...its called the hackintosh.
But apparently it doesnt work well because there is a whole lot of driver conflicts.

It takes some figuring to find out what you need for your computer, but it's far from impossible to get it running nice.

But I originally meant someone tri booting the 3 OSes
