Opinions on Changes for HTPC w/bad mobo.

Hi guys, I have received an HP Pavilion P6130Y. and am thinking of turning it into an HTPC / general use computer with LED TV for monitor. I just bought a 46" Samsung Smart TV that I will hook it up to. The wife and I both have laptops so we will not actually be using it all that often.

I received it after diagnosing it as having a bad MoBo (sometimes it will not post and other is will, and screen flickers when it does), not 100% sure on that diagnosis.

SO I need to find a replacement MoBo and ask if "you" think I should stop using the built in Video Card and replace it with an "XFX GeForce 8500GT 500M 512MB DDR2 TV DVI PCI-E" that i have laying around.

I was thinking about using an extra sound card, but the pc has built in S/PDIF (orange RCA) and i'm able to just plug that directly into my TV.

So, are #'s 1 and 2 even compatible? Would you recommend getting the higher priced one, knowing that it will be used for HTPC and "light" Photoshop use by the wife to draw and manipulate drawings?

Any other recommendations or thoughts?

Thanks to all!

The asrock board would work with the current cpu. The Asus board is a different socket so it wouldn't work.
