ok so this is my first new pc in a long while so i didnt go top top of the line, but i would like peoples opinions on my rig setup and what you might add to make it better

Case: Cooler Master Storm Scout

MOBO: MSI 880G-E45 AM3 AMD 880G

Displays: two 24inch Viewsonic VA2431wm (Just ordered 2 desk arm mounts from Monoprice :D )

CPU: AMD 965 quad core black edition ( still using stock cooling for now until I get a watercooling setup or aftermarket cooler)

-I do hear though it is very easy with the board im using to unlock 2 more cores, but i dont want to mess with that until I have better cooling.

RAM: Currently have Installed

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

(I just ordered 2 more sticks to bring my systems ram up to 16GB!)

Hard Drives: two hitachi deskstart 1TB SATA drives ( also have an external TB for redundant backups of media and such)

Optical drives: 2 Sony burners ( nothing special, but they do burn Dual layer discs very fast)

PSU: COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M600 RS-600-AMBA-D3 600W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Modular.

Video Card: Currently using the on board, but just ordered

XFX HD-687A-ZNFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

Ok So now some of my questions.

1. If I choose to get another xfx radion hd 6870 for crossfire down the road will my PSU support it or will i need more wattage?

2. Anyone think i should throw in a solid state at some point and put the OS on that or will I not even notice a speed change?

3.

What I paid:
Case: 59.99 after rebate)
Monitors: $ 285 for both
Video card: $ 187.00 ( 20 rebate:))
CPU: 149.99 ( mobo came with it for $40 extra after rebates. Thank you microcenter!)
Ram : all 16gb for $150 After coupons)
both optical drives ( $38 New egg sale :) )
PSU: 99.99 - 30 rebate)
Hard Drives: on sale 49.99 each)

Basically I got everything for $1,060 after rebates. Did I make out good? thoughts?

What would you do different or add or change over time? I really want to here peoples opinions even if they are negative. Thanks.

I am not sure if it still worth to get phenom IIx4 these day as their new line coming out soon. And I am not sure if you can unlock phenom II 965

Mobo - make sure you get one support AM3+, which allow you to upgrade in future

If you are set on really building your own PC then I would say do what you think is best. Imho though. What daisy said. Anytime a new line of cpu's drop or get close to dropping sometimes its worth the wait. Almost always worth the wait if it isn't to far off. If your impatient (like I was) I would check some of the rigs people are selling at the moment. Cost 2,200 to build mine and it is listed for 1200.00. Alot of pre built pc's get dumped for dirt cheap if you don't mind slightly used stuff! Whatever you choose to do GL! But I really would hold on the cpu.

that you for your iput, but i can always swap the mobo and cpu to the new dozer whenever in the future. my goal was to build a solid mid range rig which could handle any game or software i throw at it. Of course i could always upgrade more in the future, but i thought for just a little over a grand including 2 new displays and everything I made out good.

besides I havent even started Overclocking anything yet and these black edition chips are far from slow to begin with.

I guess my main question should be is it worth it to pop in a solid state drive at some point?

Depends on what your doing really. My load times (going in and out of heavy traffic zones in games) increased quite a bit. Windows loads super snappy. Programs open the minute you click them.... But price per gig right now is still kinda just blah. If you throw in 2 samsung spinpoint F3's and just raid0 them you can have a similar effect and about 3tb's for the same cost as a small SSD.
