I have a total of around £160-£180 for a new case, and I was looking for thoughts on what you would personally get (with in the conditions I want).

Only things I want out of the case are for it to be full tower with very good cable management, and to not look like a "gamer" case, I want it to be plain and professional looking.

I will only be using Scan as well, shipping is free for me, be it pick up in store or get it delivered, and their customer service is exceptional.

I was looking at getting a Corsair 700D:

But I know that some people have some gripes about it for some reason, it seems close to perfection for features and size, cable management seems exceptional.

Any other thoughts on what you would get or on the Corsair case are appreciated. It will be probably the new year before I get it, so plenty of time to decide and collect thoughts :)

I still think the mid tower version of the HAF 932 is one of the best cases for the dollar. Very solid build and lots of options, liquid or air cooled.

The Corsais Obsidian 700D does look good.

Here are some alternatives.
Fractal Design Define XL
Lian Li PC-A70FB
Lian Li PC-A71FB

I love the A71, not a big fan of the blue LEDs on the other, but Lian Li cases look exceptional and have great build quality. Only downside though is their cases are made from brushed aluminium, which marks and scratches very easily, which could be a problem because until I go to uni, it will be sat under a desk where a lot of people will be around it, and I trust myself, but not the others, especially my younger sister, and it is a hell of a lot of money to spend on a case that will potentially lose it's gorgeous looks. Will consider it between now and then though deffinately.

@tlarkin, I don't particularly like the looks of the 932. If I were to get a HAF, I would be going for a HAF X, the cable management in them is insane, but it looks awful imho.

With the raven, I think it looks pretty good and has excellent features, but the whole rotated 90 degrees thing puts me off, the way that the PCIe slots are obstructed and will have wires blocking air flow could cause heat problems with the graphics card/exhaust fans. I may be missing something in the design though, seems like a pretty simple thing to overlook after all...

Yeah. I love my new PC-8FIA but I always have to wipe off the grease marks that my fingers leave when putting on the panels and be careful not to scratch it.

^ Huh, I'm pretty sure Silverstone would have thought of that

How about the Cooler Master 840?

Well from the looks of it, and from how I have always understood it, everything is roated 90 degrees so I/O plate and expansion card outputs are at the top of the case, as well as all wires, but the top is solid, so the hot air coming out goes nowhere but in that pocket and slowly goes out of the back, where the cables come out. Seems like a good idea to have bottom to top cooling, but executed pretty badly by them.

As for the 840, deffinately not, the cable management isn't as good as in the Corsair or Lian Li case, aesthetically it isn't as good (imo), yet the price is the same

@MrJack, could always see about putting a shelf up above my desk, that way the only time it will ever be even touched is the initial build, when cleaning and when turning it on, no chance of little fingers getting near it then...

But of course, both the Lian Li and Corsair cases are effing massive, so it would have to be one hell of a shelf :P

The shelf would have to be very sturdy for the Corsair Obsidian 700D, which weighs in at about 16kg without any parts installed. The Lian Li PC-A71FB is about 9kg, which is quite reasonable.

It would indeed have to be sturdy, but I'm getting conflicting statements with the weight, you say 16Kg, Scan says approx 10Kg, another source says 44lbs (20Kg). It is bloody heavy regardless, at least twice what my current case with parts in weighs, that gives an idea of why I want to upgrade so badly :P

The top is vented for the cards. And the access to the I/O is under the top cover, then route the cables under the top cover and out the back.

You'll probly want to go with the Corsair, but we still lookin :)

I've been looking at reviews for the Corsair and the Lian Li and I was torn between the 2, but honestly, the Lian Li looks like a massive sexy case, but the Corsair looks like a massive sexy case, with such amazing features, and £30 less, I'm looking at it and getting so excited over it lol, I think you may be right that I will probably end up going with the Corsair, but will see what happens later down the line, or what I can find
