optical dvd problem?

I just installed a dvd buner on my old computer the

and i bought a pack of 8x dvd disks

also burning data seems fine, i've been able to store files avi. pics, etc but there seems to be a problem with the photo slide program. It came with the oem nero software and that's what i've been trying to use to make a photo slide. It burns without a problem, at the end it says that the burning was complete. but when i tried to play it on either of my dvd players it wouldnt work, and when i pop'd it into the dvd optical drive it comes out as blank disc. am i doing something wrong? if my dvd players are incompatible with playing dvd+r's can someone suggest a cheap dvd player that'll do the trick?

First try updating the firmware for the drive and then update your Nero.

Use nero to let you know what firmware you got on the drive
select SYSTEM INFO that should tell you what is the current firmware.

if this does not help it could be the media that your using. You also stated that you added the drive to an old pc can you please tell me the specs on this. Could be just the your PSU does not give enough power to burn the DVD correct.
