Sorry for the late reply, but what they want to know is if you agree or disagree with what was said ("Despite software testing being used in software development for some time the assurance of quality software remains an issue") - and they want you to motivate your selection, which means they want a reason why you agree or disagree. You might need to explain (elaborate) and defend your reason.
Testing will not find all of the bugs and defects in a given piece of software. Testing is used in conjunction with bug reporting and debugging (not a part of testing). It all depends on the software maker - Linux, (not a software maker but 1)a community supporting and updating the Linux kernel and writing GNU software and 2)the Kernel itself) relies heavily on bug reporting, while Microsoft relies on rigorous testing and relies less on end-user bug reporting than the Linux community does.) Testing will always be an issue - programming languages such as C, BASIC, Java, and what have you are infinite (meaning that even a simple program, such as a word processing program, consists of pages of code and there's a lot that can go wrong (and unnoticed). I'm getting off of the subject, but if you are familiar with the awk command, you know it can do a lot of things. Anyways, the moral of the story is that a program will never be 100% bug free and testing alone won't make it bug free or near bug free.
