Buying the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition cpu and Sapphire HD6950 2GB graphics card when i put more money in my bank.

Thoughts? (graphics card good, cpu ?)

Will it all fit together, will the psu be enough?

Can post links if you dont know what they are

Looks good! All compatible too. 500w is recommended for 6950 x 1. But they aparently unlock to 6970 easily.
Your obviously thinking of a second 6950 down the road, which would be 750w. Perhaps a bit extra to make sure. And with both unlocked,,,here, check this out:

i ordered the motherboard without realising it wasn't the 3.0 usb one.

like an extra 8-10quid for the usb3.0, nevermind i can buy a 3.0 pci card

How does it actually work, say i bought that usb 3.0 pci would i use that usb for faster transfer speeds? (would normal usb cable work for faster speeds)

also 6GB sata dont understand all that

I would not worry about USB 3.0 versus USB 2.0. The motherboard you purchased has an External Serial ATA port you can use if you wish. Data transfer rates with E-Serial ATA are a lot faster than USB 2.0.

I have read about Serial ATA 6 Gigabit per second versus Serial ATA 3 Gigabit per second. From my understanding current hard disk drives cannot transfer data faster than Serial ATA 3 Gigabit per second. To utilize Serial ATA 6 Gigabit per second you would need to use solid state drives.

You can read here about Serial ATA 3 or 6 gigabit per second:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA

From my understanding, the USB 3.0 would warrant faster transfer speeds. It works well for an external HDD via expresscard on my IBM. Certainly blows the USB 2.0 on my other 2. I actually have Ubuntu set as a Boot drive on the eHDD and its faster than the stock 4200 RPM drive in the laptop. Your standard USB cables will work with 3.0.

Sata III is geared twords SSDs. The mechanical drives can not take full advantage of the 6.0GB/s speed of it. If you dont have a SSD, it is not worth the money for the Sata III upgrade.

yeah im not going to fork out so much on a SSD im just going to be using sata II hard drives for now.

£440 for all that including delivery good price ?

USB 3.0 is only useful if the connected device also has USB 3.0, and you're using a USB 3.0 cable. Otherwise, there's no gain.

right well i dont have a 3.0 hard drive or the cables so im all good.

would have been good to have for the future though can just buy the separate usb 3.0 pci card

i dont, if you read properly i say ill just buy an expansion slot in the future.

was just saying for an extra 5-10pounds could have got the better motherboard with 3.0 usbs
