ordering computer parts, need to shave down some $$

it doesnt have to be equivalent; if you think something on my list isn't really necessary/doesn't make noticable improvement on the system, then i would like to know. remember, trying to cut it to 1200$ total

cheaper case and if you got 2x 512 ram I believe it is cheaper, however this would cause less upgradability in the ram area. Plus if you get 2x 512 you can run it in dual channel (as long as it is supported) which will improve performance. If you plan to get another GB later I would suggest keeping it how it is as far as ram goes.

The CPU is a different socket than the mobtherboard. Hope you didn't get it yet...

Anyways, unless you do heavy overclocking, the DFI board is overkill.

I have this board and it works great...
ABIT An8

Here is the correct CPU socket. The 3500 Venice is plenty and you can overclock it better.

Here is a much better 1GB stick of RAM...

lol that cpu is oem and 230 give or take? wow ripp off
i recently ordered retail 3700 (same one) for 230

anyways yeah go with the abit an8 Sli its a great mobo i got the same one..

also go with a difference/cheaper case...(try aspire dreamer 2)

as for the crt you could get an lcd for that price..(maybe?)
but yeah no crt is werth 200+

also for the video card...
I think..this is just me talking..
instead of waisting that much for a card that is..
Core clock=445MHz
And memory clock=1070MHz

instead why not get 2x 6600 Gt's and Sli them..
Personally I thinnk thats how you will get your moneys worth...
But again this is just me talkin....

Find a monitor from a local store or something, they cost an assload to ship, same goes with cases. So you could drop the case from this and drop ~60$ from the total. You could also flip-flop between ZZF and newegg and get some better prices.

thanks for the help so far guys. btw do you think i should just get a 17 inch monitor instead of 19? is the difference that noticable?

17 inch is plenty and you can get a nice 17" LCD for the same price as that CRT. Also Lord AnthraX, that RAM you suggested is CAS 3, for a little higher he can get CAS 2.5 or even CAS 2. Not too much more for a performance benefit.

Indeed, it's not worth it to get the CAS 2/2.5 for the price to performance ratio.
