OS issue

So I had been running XP since getting my PC awhile ago. I was curious about Windows 8 and thought I'd install the W8 Release Preview...Probably a mistake. Now, when I boot it up I get stuck on a screen that says "Windows" and has some rotating dots below that. I've let it sit at this screen for hours just to see if anything would change. Nothing.

Are there any solutions?
 
What procedure did you use to install it? Did you create a dual boot setup or did you delete XP and install windows 8?
 
I just downloaded the release preview, mounted it, and ran it. So, I guess that means I removed XP?

The only solution then is a reformat?
 
When you installed it, did you delete any partitions? We don't know how your drive was setup. It would have asked you where to install it...
 
All it did was check what would need my attention ( nothing came up) then asked me what files I wanted to keep. It never asked which hard drive or anything like that.
 
You may have done a clean install. Do you have another system to where you can put the hard drive in and check to see what partitions are there?
 
Go ahead and do it. Then use disk management to determine what partitions are on the drive. You can post a screenshot if you want so we know whats going on.
 
From what I remember it's 2 ghz, 4Gb ram, 250Gb HDD

I'm guessing it has something to so with the xpress 200 chipset. I don't think it's good enough.
 
The biggest problem I see is that you mounted the ISO to install it. Never a good idea, as the install needs to reboot several times and still read the installation media.

You're going to have to do a clean install of Windows as John said.
 
So basically you are in the bios and it just freezes? Time to reset cmos then. Unplug power from the power supply, remove cmos battery, press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power and then wait 5-10 minutes and then reinsert battery and reconnect power and try booting up. If it still don't work then you have some hardware damage somewhere. Disconnect hard drive, cdrom drive and anything else not required to boot computer to see if it continues to boot.
 
Not in BIOS but after the initial start-up menu (where I can choose to run the boot menu, enter system set, or run system recovery or simply let it the OS start) is where I get the message.
