OS reinstall didnt quite fix issue

I am currently working on a family members computer that had a bit of an issue. The browser was being hijacked and all links on google were being redirected to spam sites. I did a reinstall from XP to Windows 7 but forgot to choose the option to completely reformat the hard drive.
The browser seems to be ok now, but a big issue seems to be the CPU running at 100% causing the pc to lag during streaming movies. (hulu)
Included in the next post in the hijackthis log. I was wondering if someone could take a look at it for me and see if they can find out whats wrong.

Reinstall windows 7 but this time delete existing partitions, repartition, format and install. Technically you can't upgrade from XP to W7, you would have to do a fresh install, so not sure what you did exactly.

I updated like normal but didnt go into advanced options to format the hard drive. so it kept all the xp files on the system root. I think im just going to have to swallow everything i did so far and do it all over with a complete reformat.

Your log shows Malwarebytes, if this is the paid version that sits back in the back ground monitoring your system this could be your problem...
Disable it and see if this improves your system.
