hello :P
ive bin into gaming a long time now but ive a crap pc. i cant do anything anymore because the games these days require much more than my computer is capable of. i hav a grand now and all that is hopefully gonna change. i wanna build my own pc but i havnt got a clue wot the nuts to wack in it. can any1 please give me a good setup for an amazin gamin pc eg motherboard and g-card (within £1000 plz)

ps i get taken the piss of by my mates and they say i hav ms-dos so i need a good pc to shit on them

You should have posted this in the "Desktop" section, but its ok. Whats £1000 equivalent to in USD?

Well anyways, im thinking thats its around $1200 USD (correct me if im wrong), and for that you should be able to get something along the lines of this:

AMD Athlon 64 3700+
1GB DDR400 RAM
200GB SATA Hard Drive
Nice Motherboard
nVidia 6800GT 256MB Video Card
DVD-Burner
 
yeah its more than 1200 but u should be able to get a nice set up for that. what card are u guys thinking? perhaps a 6800gt/ultra would be nice. combined with a nice amd processor youve got yourself a nice gaming rig
 
he said an amazing gaming pc.. and, lets be honest, the 6800GT is good, but not amazing anymore. i would wait a little longer untill the release of the 7800GTX ULTRA, and buy a pc with a 7800GTX then.
because it will drop in price then
 
the 6800GT consumes more ower than the 7800,.. but the 7800 performs almost twice as good. so.. if your pc can run a 6800GT, it shure can run a 7800GTX ;)

Im confused, I thought there was no 7800GTX ULTRA but that it was just 7800GTX 512mb.
