My outlook express program has been corrupted, I think. Is there any way to re-install it without re-installing Internet Explorer. I have tried to uninstall IE but there is some problem about a mui.dll being missing.
 
what version of windows are you running? Outlook Express is bundled with Windows and, AFAIK, it can't be reinstalled unless by formatting your hard drive and reinstalling Windows. I'm sure you'd rather avoid that. More info on your problem might helpful. Please describe the problem in more detail.
 
I am running Win XP, recently I could not access outlook express. A message comes up saying ' the identity log in could not be started, could be incorrectly configured ' I contacted bt internet and they took me thro' the procedure where they take control of my PC . BT internet asked me to put in a code etc which should have given them control but this did not happen. They opted out then.
I have Win 7 dual booted on this desktop and I can receive my OE emails on that but have lost them on XP.
 
You can not reconfigure outlook express with out reformatting XP. I would suggest you download mozilla thunderbird. it is an email client just like OE. Plus thunderbird should ask if you wan to import settings from OE so setup should be painless
 
Yes, might be time to abandon OE and switch to Thunderbird. I already use Firefox on XP so same supplier, Thanks anyway.
 
John, That was an amazing piece of information you posted. I clicked [start] [run] and typed scf /scannow in the [open] box. The computer then took over 5 minutes to carry out the scan, then the scan box closed. I waited 1 minute but nothing else was happening so I pressed my mail button. Outlook express leapt back onto the screen and I have my OE program fully restored. What can I say except thank you very much indeed.
I was not even asked to load the XP CD.
 
You could also repair XP using the XP CD disk without formatting the drive and loosing any kind of data or settings and anything else.

Still SFC SCAN NOW is better to try first and if it worked,great :) ,if not then you can always repair XP without loosing anything.

If the repair is not available (what is VERY unlikely) then you can always copy your entire primary drive on some other secondary drive using Linux OS,reinstall XP on the primary drive and then using Linux OS recopy and replace everything from the secondary drive back to the primary drive and then again everything will work and again you did not lose any data,settings and anything else.

And so on...

There are many ways of how you can repair problems in Windows without losing a single peace of data,operating system,programs,settings any everything else ^^
