Outlook Problems

My wife started having Outlook or Hotmail issues lately.

She can't send, reply, or forward emails.

I've search the internet, and got several options to try but none of them work.

She now uses my computer to do email, so I need so help bad.

Anyone got any ideas on correcting the outlook email problems.

I forgot to say we both have Vista, IE9 and 3.4g Dell systems.

And I don't have the same problems she has, my Outlook works fine.....for now.
 
No message comes up at all, no error message.

But when try to create a new message in a separate window, I get the prompt "Almost Done"

But It never completes so a new email cannot be created.

Same happens with reply and forwards.
 
First thing I would do is do a system restore back to a day when it was working. There may have been some windows update that caused this.
 
I really do enjoy digging into the problems of a computer or software. I have spent days working on problems with systems trying to ID the exact moment in time or process that caused the failure, usually with complete results.

I'm not bragging, I've always like a good mystery, research and trial and error.

When there is no problems with someones computer, I'm usually outside doing target practice or firing a round or two at 300 yards, it helps me to relax.

But with my wifes PC, things must happen right now.

So I have given up the chase and five minutes ago I selected on her computer, "System Restore" and chose two weeks ago as a date.

When it's Finished, I hope I can sleep tonight...
 
The system restore did not work.

I got an error message saying it did not complete on the two weeks ago date, so I chose a three weeks ago date.

I'm getting sleepy.....
 
System Restore refuses to complete.

I turned off IE9 Protected Mode and the Emails works fine now.

If she turns on Protect Mode, she can't send Emails, write, reply or forward.

With Protect Mode off she can do everything is Email.


Anyone know why?
 
If you Google search protected mode you will see it has caused lots of issues. I would recommend to quit using IE anyway and use a better browser as IE is a terrible browser to use.
 
As a matter of fact, I tried to get her to use Mozilla or Pale Moon, but she not one to change easily. She doesn't like me to drive a different street to get to see something different on the way to somewhere.

But, for some reason her Outlook started working this morning, and so far it's still working. She can send, reply, forward again.
