output from laptop to TV

Hello, I am fairly computer illiterate and am trying to play a DVD on my laptop, and watch it on my tv. The screen on the TV says "no Sync" and goes blank. I am using a Gateway 3200 series with 1.5 GHz. Any suggestions?

how are you hooking up your lappy to the tv?

I have an output for an additional monitor on the laptop. It plugs into the back of my new TV.

OK, Gateway is offically the worst when it comes to naming their machines. Basically all I find when searching for a 3200 is an old PII desktop...

Anyway, what kind of output are you using? I can't find if that model has TV-Out or just VGA out. If you're using VGA out, I would assume you're trying a resolution beyond what the TV can use... If you're using TV-Out, I'm not too sure.

With either method, are you 100% sure it's enabled?
