Output/input questions

Hey people,

Here's the deal:

Motherboard only has HDMI, my current monitor doesn't have support HDMI, it only supports D-SUB and DVI-D. The monitor isn't mine and when I received it there were wires plugged into both DVI-D/D-SUB slots. So my question is do I need both to be plugged in or is only 1 necessary? And secondly if only one is necessary which would provide better quality?

Would it just be necessary for me to buy a HDMI -> DVI-D or an HDMI -> D-SUB adapter?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post,

Good day

If you want to use the motherboard graphics on the monitor you have yeah you will need to get either a HDMI to D-Sub(also known as VGA) or a HDMI to DVI-D.

If only 1 is neccesary, the quality will be the same.

Which motherboard are you talking about? The one in your upcoming build?

And if you go from HDMI to DVI, then it'd be the same quality, just no audio.
