Overclock causes disappearance of Hard drive

The problem is that when i try to OC past 400MHz FSB the bios does not pick up the hard drive and as soon as i go back under 400MHz the bios will find it again and boot up normally. What could be causing this?

This also happens even if i lower the multiplier and go past 400MHz, i still get disk read error.

ASUS P5KPL-AM SE
Vista 64 bit
WD 500GB
2GB HyperX

southbridge it is then. I will keep bumping it up until it works or i run out of voltage, of course if it dont work i will put it bak to default.

some boards jsut cant go past a certain point with the fsb increase the multiplier to compensate for it ifr you can

im unfamiliar with intel overclocking so thats all i can help with goodluck

thanx, i think u r right. This cheap mobo can OC to 1600 FSB according to asus, but i dont think it will oc pass this point.
