really wasnt aware they did that....no way around? thanks

I think there is...a custom motherboard Bios,But its complicated.....would be hard to find one for your motherboard (If any) and its not saying it will work.

Personaly i wouldnt risk it.

Only other way like mentioned is a new Motherboard unfurtunatly.

You can try clock gen, it stopped being updated in 2007 i beleive, but you can see if it works, it works for my computer that i built in 08'. Its worth a try, you have to re-clock it every time you boot, but thats not a big deal if you really want the overclock. You should be able to get atleast 200mhz w/ this i get about 320mhz with my 5200+, so you should be able to get to about 2.1ghz easy.

If theres an option in that program for it, make it auto clock to your desired overclock everytime you boot up windows.

better to switch from 1.86ghz chip to 3.3ghz chip, rather than try to overclock?

i heard you can really mess up pc overclocking it ????

If you crank voltages you can, about it though. So long as you're careful and don't do anything stupid, the chances of you irrecoverably damaging something are slim. On the other hand, depending on the processor and what your current mobo are, you may be able to do the upgrade, and would quite likely be a bigger improvement than whatever overclock you can squeeze out of it.

i can go up to 3.0mhz core 2 duo. socket 775, asus board Asus P5LP-LE

told i could use:
Core 2 Duo E6x00 (Conroe core)
Core 2 Duo E4x00 (Conroe core)
Pentium E2000 series (Conroe core, 1 MB cache)
Pentium 4 6x1 series (Cedar Mill core)
Celeron (Conroe core)
Celeron D 3xx series (Cedar Mill core)

thinking of staying core 2 duo?

core 2 processors:

suggestions appreciated, thanks

Well do you think such kind of PC is even worth of overclocking? Im not into that but my friend is kinda experienced and i remember when he told me that anything below 2ghz is not worth overclocking, because you will notice only a very little increase
