Overclock the processor

Hey guys, I have an Asus ipibl-lb motherboard and a Intel Core Quad Q6700 2.66Ghz processor and I want to overclock it. But that option is locked in the Bios is there a way to unlock it? Thanks!

Is that motherboard from a computer manufactured from a company such as Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.?

Unfortunately with most pre built computers the manufacturers lock the settings in the BIOS- so you won't be able to overclock your processor :/

Oh my bad for not reading your first properly. Erm I'm honestly not sure; I know people have managed to do stuff in the past with locked BIOS 's using hardware mods etc- but from doing a fairly quick google on your mobo i can't really see anything.

One thing i could suggest though is perhaps try using an overclocking program within your operating system to overclock.

yeah i think the only option is a hacked bios, but personaly i wouldnt trust one because if its not dont right you could end up with a dead board.

Could he not still overclock from his OS?

I tried overclocking on my old HP rig in Xp via Clockgen and the sliders were greyed out.

i couldnt change a thing so i doubt it will work.

i think Hp use custom boards made by Asus and they lock everything :(
