overclock vid

there wouldnt be any real point in overclocking that video card since the performance increase would be minimal.

If you want to overclock any Geforce card, you'd need to install the Coolbits 2 registry tweak. As Omega said though, that card is too slow to warrant any noticable increase in performance. If you want faster frame rates, I'd invest in a new card.

ok now i got it and it shows max frames to render ahead what is this and what does it do it is on 3 what should i put it on? - core clock freqency is 275mhz right now and memory clock freqency is 332mhz what should i overclock too and is it safe will it overheat??

There are many websites dedicated to teaching people how to overclock graphics cards with coolbits. Just do a google search. If you are just experimenting with overclocking anything for the first time, I would recommend doing some homework.

Max frames to render ahead is just was it says, the card renders frames before they appear on screen. Leave that on default, it's fine.

Moving the slider bars all the way up will most likely fry your card, using the detect optimal frequencies feature is the way to go, since it automatically sets a safe overclock level. Test the changes with the artifact detection tool in ATITool, it works with nVidia cards as well (that feature does anyway).

As far as overheating is concerned, you should be fine with any overclock you achieve with that card. Later and better cards have temperature sensors which you can keep an eye on in the control panel.

i overclocked it put i try to run halo and it says cannont allocate required memory some other application has loaded where halo needs to be
any ideas?

Perhaps you could post a pic of the error message you get? Have you tried undoing the overclock to the card? Also, check the virtual memory settings, and make sure all is well in Task Manager, with regards memory.

i set it back still no luck i am goin to give some pics of stuff lata in while i got to go do my paperroute right now lol yes i have a paperroute

here is the error
untitled7.jpg

too small a sry it says cannont allocate required memory. some other application has loaded where halo needs to be located
maybe ill try to reinstall

I'm afraid I'm not well versed in Visa error messages yet, if that is indeed a Vista error message and not a Halo one. I find it quite coincidental that that error has only occured since you overclocked your graphics card. Those two things, in my experience, would very rarely be related.

I guess one of the problems with using an operating system that hasn't been released yet is you can't expect total functionality, stability, and customer support :)

ROFL! There you go, that's what happens when you post a pic I have to squint to see! :P

So many people have copies of Vista now, it wouldn't have been totally unbelievable that you would have one. I myself had an early build installed myself, but I remember now it looked a bit different... ROFLMAO

Ya halo is gonna make that card scream even if you overclock it. I would highly suggest getting a new card if your budget allows it.

hey will overclocking ur card ruin the rest of ur system or does it just ruin the card?
The only real risk of damage is to the card, and so long as you're not silly about it the risk of card damage is really minimal. :)
