Overclocked 3200+

3200+ @ 2.5 stock voltages

Hey all!
Today I had a chance to overclock a friend's Amd 3200+. His specs:

3200+
Abit Kn8 sli
1GB DDR400 (OCZ, I think)
6800XT (not my recommendation)
a pathetic power supply ( 15A on the 12V :P )

So, I worked with it, and got it up to 2.3 Ghz without any memory changes, then lowered the ram all the way and got to 2.6 Ghz. Then I put the memory to 333mhz (DDR432) and ran prime. I will have to lower it to 2.5 probably before it is stable, but still, 2.5Ghz on stock voltages. In a few months I'll try again and up the voltages a little, (along with better cooling) we'll see what is the limitation. Sadly, the multiplier is 10X or lower, so I have to only raise the FSB. More later...

Interesting I have the same CPU. I ought to overclock it.

I've got the 3500+ and I'm working with it...I've so far got it to 2.3 ghz and I've only touched the FSB (it's currently at 211 w/ multiplier of 11). I'm mainly going for 2.5 or 2.6ghz, on stock voltages and cooling.

i'm running my 3000+ air cooled at 2.02 stable just touching the multiplier. stock cooling. removed the thermal paste. 26deg idle 32 under load. 1.39 voltage.

lanparty mobos let you LOWER voltage from what the stock is?
weird.
lol thats a nice proc. thats why the 3700+'s are good overclockers... its basically the same chip just cheaper. most people hit 3ghz with the 3700+ line... thats 800mhz overclock. of course, id rather have two cpu's at 2ghz than one cpu at 3ghz.
lol quake 4 multithreads.

i can take her all of the way down to .8V, its for Cool N Quiet... but she purrs along at 2.4GHz @ 1.25V and 2.9GHz at the stock 1.35V

not bad at all... single cores must overclock a lot better. i mean i can have dual prime95 have one fail in like two mins... but have the second prime95 go on for a day or two lol...
i definitely like GPU's more than CPU's though. i ought to get a second 7900gtx. not really. that might be overkill. not really. lol
