Overclocking Crossfire

Well the Phenom X4s have a total of 512kb. of L1 - 2mbs. of L2 and 2mbs. of L3. The X2 5600 has 256kb of L1 and 1mb of L2 for the 65nm. and 2mb with the 90nm. True a Q6600 overall is faster than a 9850, but going from a X2 5000 to a 9850 will be a huge increase regardless if the Q6600 is faster. Pretty sure soon there comming out with a 95watt 9850 and a 9950, not for sure what the watts are for the 9950

Even now the Q6600 is marginally faster than a 9850 and even gets beats in almost 50% of the tests. But overall the Q6600 has a better OC, I mean some people can get 3.5Ghz out of the 9850's, but most are hitting 3.1-3.3.

Also where did you hear about the 95W Phenoms and when are they suppose to be out?

As far as I know they already have a non BE 95 watt 9850 for OEMs, not released for retail. My guess they will just release it to retail. The first 9950 is suppost to be a 140 watt heat your campbells soup up processor. AMD just needs to tweak their upper end Phenoms to get the watts down and forget about the smaller ones and get the 45nm. out the door.

Little update, took the plunge (check the sig).

Very happy with my new choice, might pickup the newer motherboards with the SB750 chipset, I hear its quiet easy to squeeze 200 - 300mhz more out of the 9850 with that, but I gotta say a 700Mhz stable OC is GREAT for my 1st day of fiddling around. I was really expecting only to hit 28 - 2.9 Ghz with everything I had heard.
