Overclocking help

I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000 and I was wondering if I should overclock it or not. Right now it is operating at 1.8ghz.

Socket 939 i presume? Yes, i would overlcock it if i were you. They are very easy to overclock, and do so very well. Ive got mine stable at 2.4Ghz and idle temp is about 30*c atm.

Yes socket 939 and Venice, actually its the same CPU as the one you have lol. So you overclocked it to 2.5ghz? That is a big difference I think I will overclock tonight.

Yea, ive dropped mine down to 2.4 because it wasnt too stbale at 2.5, and my PSU is pretty crap, so i didint wanna risk upping the vcore anymore then i had.

We have like almost exactly the same systems (same - CPU, mobo, RAM - most important for OC, ya, ya, heatsink and airflow too I know :P ), ok, so I've managed to OC my CPU to 2.9 GHz, it was a bit unstable, however it was stable at 2.8 GHz but the voltage was a bit high, 1.6V, I recommend to OC it to 2.4 GHz, 1.4V like I did

If you wanna do it, do it like this:
  • Go to BIOS (press DELETE on boot up)
  • Go to Advanced => JumperFree Configuration
  • Overclock Profile set to - Manual
  • Lower the CPU Multiplier to - 8X
  • Increase CPU Frequency to - 300 MHz
  • Lock PCI Express Clock to - 33.33 MHz
  • CPU voltage - 1.4V
  • Go to Advanced => CPU Configuration
  • Hyper Transport Frequency - 3X
  • Go to Advanced => CPU Configuration => DRAM Configuration
  • Set RAM Speed to - 266 MHz
  • Set Command Rate to - 1T

Thank you for all your help. I am going to overclock in a little bit here, i cant wait to boost it up:)
