Overclocking HP

Has anybody gotten any luck overclocking their HP/Compaq/Dell? My BIOS is locked. Is there any way I can get around this without buying a new mobo?
 
There are some programs out there that let you overclock inside of Windows, so it's only temporary. I don't remember the name of them though.
 
you can use nvidia's ntune or ati's radlinker
also asus has overclocking software that you can get from their website.
other then that i'm not sure of the programs out there

Those are for video cards, and I would bet that the Asus program is only for Asus motherboards.

there are yes clockgen,however it wouldnt work on my Hp either.

AMD Sempron 2800+ :D
 
OC'ing in Windows isn't really advised, it's generally unsafe as you have no 'real' control over the vCore. I'm sure you don't want to be pumping 1.7v through your CPU :P
 
Even with OS-based overclocking tools, many of them won't work with your HP anyways. I've tried with my older Dell and I could not get anything to work without the computer crashing.

I haven't done a whole lot either, however AMD (ATI) software only works with an AMD CPU, if you have an Intel-based motherboard and Intel processor then I don't believe either ATI or nVidia's offerings work for overclocking a processor.
 
From my knowledge and I currently use a HP computer, they generally tend to use Asus for mobos that are specifically made for them so you can't get support from Asus.
 
Oh okay thanks. Well I have a stock HP with an AMD CPU, an Asus mobo, and an Intel chipset. Haha I guess I won't OC. My processor is fine, I was just wondering how easy it would be to make it go faster. =P
