Overclocking Info Questions

oh didnt see that. anyway, this is reading hotter and it also says it a pentium m???

Unlike the BIOS and SpeedFan temps which use a temperature diode located under the CPU itself, Intel TAT reads the internal temperature diode which is located inside the actual CPU, so it's the most accurate for determining the temperature of your CPU.

And the Core 2 Duo is built up from the Pentium M architecture, so im guessing thats why it says that.

My CPU idles around 50C, and load (Orthos load, not game load) is around 64C.

Also, I would recommend Orthos over Prime95 anyday. It runs on both cores automatically, and can test both the RAM and CPU at the same time. Not to mention it seems to stress it even more then any other burn-in test i've used.

TAT and Speedfan both provide useful info, although obviously the temps cannot be compared directly. Whichever way you look at it, though, those temps are too hot. I would be curious to see a load temp, whether you use Prime95, Orthos, etc...

any suggestions on better cooling solutions?
Thermaltake Big Typhoon or Typhoon VX, or if the budget is tight, Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro.

They do, but I would always go with TAT over any other app if their temps differ.

For example, my BIOS reports the temp as around 40C idle, where as TAT reports 50C idle. (makes since, because it is running at 1.400V and 3.13Ghz).

I ran the Orthos for almost an hour and a half and this is what i got. So what does all this mean?

Type: Blend - stress CPU and RAM Min: 8 Max: 4096 InPlace: No Mem: 1790 Time: 15

The main point of running it is to monitor the temperature of your CPU using Intel TAT... did you do that?

The good news is that it appears to be pretty stable if you ran if for that long without errors.

yea i have, it idles at 58 and 60 and when im playing a video and using IE ithovers around 60/62 and 62/63. but when a page changes in IE it reachers over 70.

You sure you dont have those backwards? I find it hard to believe that it only reaches 58-60 while using stress tests, but gets to 70 when opening a page in IE...

Are you sure you didnt have the stress test running while you were opening up some web pages?

well when it loads a page its just shoots up but goes rite back down. and when i run orthos am i supposed to leave the system alone or do stuff? cause i've just been letting it sit when I run a stress test app.
