Overclocking intel i5 760?

hey there i never overclocked anything before and i was looking for help in doing so. i want to overclock the build in my sig and ive heard that the i5 760 can oc to 4ghz stablely, and could i achieve 4ghz or there abouts. if im going to overclock im thinking on getting a noctua nh-d14 cause ive heard its quiet and good, so does the motherboard matter that much? and does any one know any good places to learn how to over clock thats for the 1st gen i series processors'?

Motherboard is one of the main factors affecting overclocking result.
So buying a good motherboard is very important. Asus P7P55D-E PRO is good.
But I think Thermalrights' cooler is better since it is lighter with similar performance to the noctua's

Yes your board is great for overclocking, I've owned that board until actually fairly recently.

As for the cooler, you do not need the D14, thats way too expensive for what you get. The Cooler master hyper 212+ EVO will only be a couple degrees less for much less than 1/2 the price.
