Well ive got a brand spankin new laptop, i dont have any real problem but i just love knowing my computer is screamin fast. Its a duo core 2.33 intel of course, (i know next to nothing about computers) if i overclock it, does it OC both cores? or just 1 at a time? or can i only oc 1? is it worth it?

ah that is true, havent checked my bios on it. but at a .1 oc, thats .2 between the cores, not worth the risk for that. But thanks, ill go check if i can just for fun

Yea if you don't know what the heck your doing I wouldn't recomend u try ur first one on your laptop. Its hard to change the cooling on the laptop anyhow... and eveythings clusted together in a laptop even if the CPU could handle the heat it wouldn't do too good for your other components that r like millimeters away from it.

Laptops are pretty expensive there not made for super performance more for mobility. Most people like to keep there laptops for a while if you overclock it, it'll just kill it.And then when it comes to buying a new laptop it'll be expensive. If you want performance buy a Desktop and Overclock the heck outa that. Desktops are much easyer to replace the componets when u kill them from Overclocking.

If it's a prebuilt laptop, you CAN NOT overclock it from within the BIOS, and have fun trying to overclock with a program.

And I also agree, if you dont have any idea on overclocking in general don't do it.

but at a .1 oc, thats .2 between the cores
hahahahaha

oh thanks, laugh at me. That wasn't very nice. Alienware actually enabled OC'ing in their laptops, which doesn't void their warranty... but anyway. I wont.

How could you expect someone NOT to laugh at you?

If you can't even decide whether you want to OC one of your cores or both and you shelled out the money to buy an alienware laptop, you must be every bit as stupid as you seem.

You ought to post a pic of yourself. I wanna see if you look as funny as i think you do :D

Ouch......:P

No......u people and your manufactured PC's need to read Overclocking 101 a little better, this is the third thread that asks this question, today. OC 101 wouldn't be there just to take up space.

Don't OC it. 1) The laptop will probably overheat like crazy. 2) If something goes wrong, basically the entire laptop goes byebye. 3) If you don't know whether to OC 1 or 2 cores (you can't OC one core at a time...), you shouldn't be OCing at all.

I neva read the sticky's but thats cause i know abit about computers least how to overclock. lol lets try overclock just one core lol hahaha thats gota be the funnyest thing i've read in a while, sorry man but .. wat the heck is .1 oc but get .2 in duel core .. lol.

And ppl gota get outa the buying prebuilt computers, and learn to build it themselves, It'll prob cost u liturally half the price for a self built one than ur dell or whateva comptuer. It's not that hard building one just read around for a while and ask some help wen u need it.

OK time out. Seriously here, that was rude and uncalled for. Watch your mouth. The guy is new, we're here to help him, not criticize him. We all have to start somewhere. don't be jerks and put the guy down. Be nice, for the sake of the forum.
