Overclocking my gpu

Hi guys i made a thread before about overclocking my ati radeon sapphire hd 4870.

I decided that i would overclock it and i reached pretty good results. how ever i am not satisfied yet.

What i overclocked it from and where it is at now

GPU clock speed: 750mhz overclocked to 800mhz

Memory clock speed: 900mhz overclocked to 950mhz

Any ways iv heard from multiple places that overclocking just your memory clock speed can greatly improve preformance. I just want to know if its true and safe just to overclock the memory clock speed and not the gpu clock speed. at the same time

sorry for the long read D:

Thanks,

I'm not so sure that overclocking the memory alone will yield "incredible" performance as compared to overclocking the GPU itself.

I don't see why you couldn't. It would improve your performance a bit. As with all overclocking, as I'm sure you know, it is dangerous on a certain level. Watch your temps. I would try just a little bit at a time, and do a few stress tests here and there to test your system stability.
