Overclocking oem

Need some help on overclocking my compaq. Specs on link.

I know almost most of the time that it is not possible to overclock an oem machine. Though I know that sometimes it is with programs. Can you lead me in the right direction to know if it is possilbe. Thanks for your help. ~Holyjunk

Yes, I know. But I also know that there are ways around this but I don't know a whole lot.

um i think flashing the BIOS would take off any locks they put on there

I tried to flash my bios for my old gateway and it didn't do a damn thing. So that narrows it down to all other brands, lol.
















I know I wasn't really helpful there....

I am new to everything to overclocking so I will read up. Though my situation will be different. So umm.... forgive the noob question how to I flash the bios?

I know with the old Dell I used to have, if I tried overclocking the GPU or CPU using Windows programs, once I raised it a few Mhz, the computer crashed. I'm guessing your HP will do the same thing.

But can't I try it? If it does crash can I get everything back to normal?

If its like the Dell, it will just reboot and it will be back to normal.

Ok. Can you give me some programs you recommend to try overclocking my comp? Also, the steps on how to. Don't mean to be a pain it is just that I don't know a whole lot in this area. Thanks a bunch. ~Holyjunk

I had an Intel CPU with an Intel motherboard, and I knew that it was the 945 chipset. So if you can find out your chipset (use CPU-z), then you can download use the corect PLL for ClockGen (www.cpuid.com).

On the clockgen site, it will tell you what PLL goes with what motherboard. Now most likely it wont list your intel board, so you may have to just try out a few others with the same chipset. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

If you show me a screenshot or tell me the chipset of that motherboard, I may be able toh elp you find it.
