Overclocking P4 3.2 GHz

i was agreeing with him about the higher bus speed and i'd hate to bring up thg about thier experiment with a p4 @1000 mhz fsb, and same core speed, not oc'd


"nothing has a FSB of 800MHz or 1066 for that matter. That is BUS speed, FSB is 200 and 266 respectively

ok, great you were talking about pentiums. So was I. Toms Hardware is wrong. It is impossible to run anything at a FSB over 400MHz (It may be 500 I'm not quite sure). The Pentium 4 BUS is quad pumped to reach 800/1066MHz

This statement destroys any creditability that particular article may have had. As I already said, 800MHz is BUS not FSB

Hmm, that sounds an awful lot like what I posted...except Toms Hardware is dumb and reversed the FSB and BUS
 
I'm not arguing about work done per cycle anymore, I'm trying to convert you to one of the 'informed' who know that the FSB is Quad pumped to the BUS speed. 250FSB*4=1000 BUS

Most motherboard manufacturers claim a 800MHz FSB because that is what most people like to see, they don't understand quadpumped and don't want to. I'll say it again. Damn Marketers

1. Provided the system has working/effective PCI/AGP locks, and the memory can handle the upclock

the 800mhz fsb p4's also run much better at 1000 mhz

Thats quite the overstatement. There was damn near no difference between the P4EE-3.4 and the P4EE-3.46 so i dunno what you're talking about
 
the first remark that i posted i was agreein' and i added comments then ppl threw 500 questions...and i had a bad source of info, and when i said the upgrade is a upgrade i also said that previously on this thread. so unless the question is rhetorical....which i hope it's not, no i'm saying nothing

Wasnt rhetorical (i.e., im actually confused). I did a search for the word 'upgrade' and it shows up with 53-55 which doesnt help me much :)
