hey guys, i have been looking at overclocking my graphics card, i have done it a bit, but have not seen much of a difference.

i was wondering how far i would be able to OC this / how easily etc...

any help would be much apprieciated.

thanks

Dave.

Each card varies, so there really isn't anyway of telling you how far you could push it...

The way to test is OC using Rivatuner and test for stability wit ATI Tool. ;)

I had the xpertvision 8600gt myself till I recently upgraded...
On stock cooling I managed to get the card to run steady on Crysis with the core pushed to 650, the memory clock pushed to 850, and the shader clock pushed to around 1500.

Be careful though, like said above any cards can be different, so I would try to slowly change settings and benchmark the card.

ok cool, this is my first time overclocking... so, i need to use Rivatuner and ATI tool right?

so i need to increase the clocks slightly then test with ATI tool? and continue doing this?

I think i know what im doing with Rivatuner, but ATItool still has me stumped. what do i need to use within this program to "test" the clock speeds?

i know i sound really noobish, but i dont wanna break anything... lol...

thanks.

Yeah, OC and increase the fan speed with Rivatuner and then, I can't remember, I think it's called 'Scan for Artifacts', with ATI Tool.

This will cause your card to go to 100% load and as the name suggested, scan for artifacts. Let it run for about 30 - 40 minutes and if it's Ok. OC some more! :D
