overclocking

is there a way that i can overclock my amd 3200 higher than 2.18GHz i have a gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939. i can't get it over 2.18Ghz when i go to 2.2 it restarts by itself when it loads into windows. currently my temp on speedfan is 25C.

well the temp definetly isnt bad, i dont know any neat tricks but i thought once it resatrs you should bring it down a little and run at that speed

Or you could up the vcore by the smallest increment available. Then reboot, if it doesn't work try increasing the vcore by one more step. If it doesn't work it might be because the rest of your settings aren't stable or the CPU is at it's limit.

And is it an Athlon64 or what processor is it?

There are several factors that could be causing you not to get over 2.18Ghz

One, have you tried lowering the HT multiplier to 3x or 4x?

Two, have you lowered the RAM speed?

Three, have you increased the voltage?

i managed to lower my ht multiplier to 3x, but my comp still restarts when i overclock to 2.2GHZ. also if i lower my ram speed and make my cpu speed higher wont that give me the same performance i was at before?

You should lower the RAM speed, even if it's just to check out whether that's causing your problem. If so, you may be able to stabilise it by increasing VDimm.

As for performance, it really depends on how much higher the CPU would clock. If lowering the RAM speed allows you to further increase the CPU speed, you'd be best off to run some benchmarks with those speeds, and compare with the results you're getting now.
