Well i remember back when i reformatted,my OC was wiped so i had to overclock again,in the process,i succeeded in OC'ing my cpu but i'd get a bsod on the windows load,i returned the cpu to its original clock and i still got the bsod, can someone explain why that happend?its been on my mind for a while.

overclock in the bios. thats the best way.
as for restarting and such, we'll need to know system specs. the cpu could just be unstable, or the hypertransport could be if its a K8 proc... or it could be memory thats unstable...

Well this is the thing,i had ot OC'd to 2.45ghz,then i reformatted my hd which set my cpu to stock settings, and i did OC through the bios, and i knew for a fact that i could get it back so i OC'd it to the exact same and then while the windows loading screen was up,i got bsod'd...no problem, reboot and just go back to stock settings and think up of something later...wrong...try going back and then i set it back to stock,i went into windows..nope..still bsod...and so i just formatted again because it was already a clean install anyway.
