Overclocking?

2.8 Ghz P4 Hyperthreading Tech, 512 RAM , Seagate HDD, integrated graphics (Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 on the way).

i seem that i cannot overclock over 200MHz.. and when i get to 3.1 its all good, then i try to install a program and it restarts, i lower it to 2.89 , then i can install it. what is the max i can overclock to? and should Hyperthreading tech be on when ocing?
 
There is no max. You know you've gone too far when the system is unstable. If you can figure out what part is the weak link you can try and work around it to OC higher but it's not always possible.

Hyperthreading shouldn't affect OCing on or off.
