hi guys! my pc is always overheating. it reaches 52 degrees celsius. what should i do?

here are my specs:

AMD Duron 1.3 Ghz
Kingston 256MB DDR PC 2700 (333 Mhz)
40 GB Seagate Barracuda
Inno3D NVIDIA RIVA TNT2
3 fans (1 in video card, 1 in CPU, 1 in power supply)

I asked a guy in a computer store if i could add extra fans in my PC, but he told me that it will just ruin my power supply. is this true? i also figured out that even if i wanted to add several fans in my PC, my case does not have extra space, holes or whatsoever. what do you think is the best option for me? should i buy a new case and power supply? and by the way, the PC guy also advised me to change my CPU and mobo... thanks for the time and patience...

I wouldn't consider 52C overheating. With warm ambient temps my cpu gets to 60+ at full load for a few hours.

I seriously doubt that, unless your PSU is at its limits now. Fans only use a few watts.

LOL, why not build a whole new computer?

my dvd-rom and floppy malfunctions when it's really hot.... and LOL, neither do i have any plans of buying a new CPU..

Thats not overheating.... especially considering their kill temperature is like 95C

even if my pc already malfunctions?
I don't think that the CPU overheating would cause drive failures (though I could be wrong). Possibly the northbridge overheating, but I've never heard of that happening. Are there times when the drives work properly? Have you tried other drives?

I think malfunctioning may be because of the psu. If the guy in the computer store dosent think there will be enough power for just an extra fan...

Short of say, accidentally overclocking your SATA controller on certain motherboards.... and having CPU overheating complications ... not likely :P
