overheating problem

hi, i have a hp zd8000. lately it has been running very hot. it still ran pretty hot because of the p4, but its unusally hot. every second the thing is one, two out of three fans are on. the third one comes on n off about every minute or so for like 10 seconds. any ideas as to why?

Has it always been doing that? It could be a design issue... well... maybe not. If it's a P4 - should always be on! JMHO.
 
no, usualy only one of them was on consistently and it only used all three under heavy gaming. Right now its on my desk and should be getting enough circulation, there is nothing underneath it. Im not sure how to check my internal temps :S
 
Laptops get warm. They need fans. Would you rather have the fans not start up, and your laptop melt or get dangerously hot?
 
You know, I heard about a product which you can place your notebook on top of and it has fans... beneath it... specifically designed for notebooks in cases like this.

But, I am not sure where to find it, but perhaps you can google a search and see if something pops up.

Yes, it's called a laptop cooling pad, they run for roughly $30. I've been thinking of getting one myself.
 
yeah but it never ran this hot...i understand they got hot...but now i have all three fans running almost all the time...it only used to like max 2....so now randomly it started runnning very hot and im wondering why :S

If that's the case, if the system is new and still under a warranty, consider sending it back for repair/replacement. If it isn't, depending on how old it is... you could change out the cpu and fan for it, things like that. But, if it's too old of a model... you might find it wise to replace the unit anyway. It's a sign of a problem going to get worst for you.

warrranty just fisnihed last month....its a hp zd8000 and i upgraded the ram to 2 gig so preformance wise its awesome....anyone else have any other explanations for this happeneing?
 
check what your cpu performance is at you could have some sort of virus or spyware, what anti virus do you use and spyware remover, when did you last do a defrag , type msconfig into run and click on the startup tab and see whats running at start up if there are things you dont recognize google them
and if they dont need to run at startup uncheck them.
 
Do you use it in a dusty environment or anything? Maybe it's just getting blocked up with dust, crap, etc and overheating?
