Overscan Problems

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100, and a WestingHouse 40' LCD Television. I have them hooked up through a VGA cable. I think my Video Card is a Mobility Radeon 7500, atleast that's what it says when I go Desktop_Right_Click>Properties>Settings, my options for resolutions are 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, & 1600x1200. In order for me to successfully hook up my Laptop to my LCD-TV without overscan I need to get the resolution to 1360x768 for the LCD monitor and maintain a 1024x768 resolution for my laptop screen... I don't know what to do, is this a lost cause?

Dell: Attach external LCD TV

Hello,

My name is Richard; I work for Dell here in Round Rock, Texas. I read your post about resolution settings with the attachment of an LCD TV and wanted to respond. Unfortunately, what you are trying to do is very difficult as the video options in the 5100 will not be able to provide your needed settings.

Even with new systems out on the market it is difficult to get the exact settings because the 1360x768 is not a standard on computer. You could still attach a computer but there is usually the issue of black boards on the sides of the LCD display. This is because the video hardware and drives, on computers, are not designed to produce 1360x768 resolutions.

I regret that I was unable to provide you with a solution.

Regards,
